Congressman Steven Horsford Endorses Kendrick Meek for Congress

Today, Congressman Steven Horsford, Chair Emeritus of the Congressional Black Caucus, officially endorsed Kendrick Meek for Congress in Florida's 24th Congressional District and will campaign with Kendrick in several stops across the district Thursday.

“The Meek family has an unmatched, generational passion to serve, and Kendrick is ready to serve on Day One,” Congressman Horsford said. “Whether defending fundamental rights or creating pathways to true economic mobility, Kendrick does not back down from tough fights. He has the experience, the heartbeat of his community, and a track record of action that South Florida needs right now.”

Horsford represents Nevada's 4th Congressional District, first elected in 2013 and returning to office in 2019. A member of the House Democratic leadership, Horsford is also the recent former Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus and serves on the influential House Ways and Means Committee. Horsford is the first African American to serve in Congress representing Nevada and previously served as the first African American to serve as Majority Leader of the Nevada State Senate.

Meek and Horsford will meet with local Haitian leaders and community advocates later today to discuss efforts to pass an extension of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitians following this week's devastating Supreme Court decision allowing President Trump to end the designation. Both Meek and Horsford are of Caribbean descent.

Florida's 24th Congressional District spans across the heart of northern Miami-Dade and southern Broward counties.
