New York Congressman Tim Kennedy Endorses Kendrick Meek for Congress

Today, New York Congressman Tim Kennedy officially endorsed Kendrick Meek for Congress in Florida’s 24th Congressional District, citing Meek’s unwavering commitment to tackling the gun violence epidemic.

“Kendrick Meek has the courage to take on the gun lobby, and he won’t back down when families’ lives are on the line,” Congressman Kennedy said. “He’ll fight for an assault weapons ban, for universal background checks, for commonsense laws that get weapons of war off our streets. Kendrick will wake up every single day working to save lives, that’s the leader Miami and Broward Counties deserve. I’m proud to stand with him.”

Congressman Kennedy represents New York’s 26th Congressional District, elected in 2024 following his tenure in the New York State Senate. A fierce champion for gun safety, Kennedy has led legislative efforts to combat the scourge of gun violence in the wake of the 2022 white supremacist mass shooting at the TOPS supermarket in his hometown of Buffalo, which his own staff member survived.

While recent Miami Herald reporting shows community-led initiatives helped drive a 42% drop in firearm-related homicides across Miami-Dade County between 2020 and 2024, this progress remains fragile. We must pass an assault weapons ban, secure universal background checks, and fund community-led violence intervention programs to stop the influx of illegal firearms on our streets.
